In education, A curriculum is a standards-based sequence of planned experiences or guidelines where learners practice to achieve proficiency in content and applied learning skills. It is the essential pillar of any educational system and core element of all the other aspects whether teaching, learning, evaluation, research and development, infrastructure and resources, activities of the learners will circulate it. A curriculum must include the necessary goals, methods, materials, and measurements to support instruction and learning, effectively.  The most basic part of the curriculum is the materials and books through which the teacher will plan the lesson and teach it to the children in the classroom.

At the international level, the purpose of a curriculum is to set out a privilege for all children to the knowledge and learning that our society determines is the most effective and critical for a well-rounded education. It can be summarised within the four measurements – to empower each child or young person to be a successful learner by improving their learning, a confident individual, a responsible citizen, and an effective contributor. The approach to the curriculum shows the outline of curriculum development and design, the role of the learner, teacher, the curriculum specialist in planning the curriculum. To provide teachers with a guideline for what concepts be taught in classrooms and to help students meet their content standards.

An organisation of education is totally based on the curriculum. The curriculum development is done from a perspective to recognize the objectives of education. The Curriculum provides written curricular goals which are student development outcomes.
Development of Personality
The curriculum is additionally important and significant for the personality development of the learner. The curriculum is designed in such a way that helps in the development of good qualities also developing physical, social, and moral qualities in learners.
Acquisition of Knowledge
The curriculum is the main element for possessing knowledge in various subjects. The curriculum and teaching provided by teachers reflect in the transmission of student’s knowledge through which learning outcomes can be obtained.
Deciding Structure Of Content
Every subject’s content has its wide structure which is to be taught from the lower level to the higher level. Thus the main task of curriculum development is determining the structure of content for a particular stage of teaching and providing a measurable plan and structure for delivering quality education. The curriculum of different subjects is developed from primary to higher level.
Preparation of Text Book
The curriculum provides the guidelines for preparing textbooks for the utilization of learners and subject teachers. The books are going to be decided depending on the structure of the curriculum. If the curriculum is updated or codified, the test books are also updated/modified. A good text has a wide coverage of the curriculum content of subjects.
Conducting Examination
Our education is examination-centered. The examination paper is prepared as per the curriculum of the subject and students also prepare the content for the examination. The curriculum followed by an institution should be updated frequently to sustain its effectiveness in regard to the changing needs of society.
Organizing Teaching And Learning Situation
Organizing and planning teaching-learning is the framework on which effective teaching is based. The teaching and learning situation is organized with respect to the curriculum teaching work/activities to maximize creativity and create interest in learning subjects.

The instructional method is selected and used from the perspective of the curricular design. The Curriculum plays an important role in determining the types of learning activities, methods, and techniques that are incorporated by teachers when they teach and the principles that root the design of the activities and exercises in their textbooks and teaching resources.
Development of Knowledge, Skill, And Attitude
The knowledge, skills, and attitudes imparted by learning areas/subjects, cross-cutting approaches, and extra-curricular activities is the main source of systematic and comprehensive learning. The nature of the curriculum provides the basis for developing knowledge, 21st-century skills, attitude, creative ability, and also good leadership qualities.

IB

It helps learners improve their performance by developing skills in creative thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.

CBSE

The CBSE is a national level board of education, which follows a universal path by providing quality education to promote for physical, intellectual, cultural, and social development of students. The curriculum provided by CBSE is based on the National curriculum framework-2005 it seeks to provide opportunities for students to achieve excellence in learning. It emphasizes on holistic development of learners. 

ICSE

The ICSE curriculum is a theme-based i.e, subject-centered and child-centered curriculum which was designed to fulfill the recommendation of New Education Policy 1986. It is designed and developed to provide holistic and broad-based education to children by fostering life-skills and making competent necessary for the 21st century. It encourages the development of values as well as life skills at all levels in an integrated manner.
